Food and Agriculture
The agricultural sector in Greece remains a very important sector of economic activity and employment, both for the region and the overall country. Agriculture employs in Greece, after the trade sector, the largest number of workers. Exports of agricultural products account for the one third of total exports in Greece. Main categories of exported products are fruits, vegetables and olive oil while the main imports concern meat and dairy products.
Biological - organic farming has grown dramatically over the last years constituting an important priority in the sustainable development of the sector in Greece. The Greek food and drinks industry is a vital component of Greek economy. It is a dynamic, competitive and export-oriented sector and has a significant effect on the economic growth of the country.
