The Resolution on “The Safety of Journalists and the Issue of Impunity”, initiated by Greece, was unanimously adopted by the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly.
The Resolution highlights the importance of freedom of the press and the free flow of information, while emphasizing the need to protect the rights of journalists.
This year's text makes special reference to journalists working on environmental and climate crisis issues. It also highlights the challenges faced by the journalistic profession arising from new technologies, including Artificial Intelligence.
