Sectoral Development Program

The Sectoral Development Program (SDP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the programming period 2026-2030, was approved by the Decision of the Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance No. 25873ΕΞ2026/13.2.2026 (Official Gazette Α’ 879) “Approval of the Sectoral Development Program (SDP) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the National Development Program (NDP) of the programming period 2026-2030” and constitutes a comprehensive framework of interventions. It includes the objectives of the medium-term development planning in the area of ​​responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to address identified needs, achieve measurable development goals and strengthen national development within a specific time frame based on the corresponding planning and allocation of the NDP resources that are assigned to it.

The SDP includes, among others, the Program Budget, the competent Management Service for the management, monitoring and control of the implementation of the Development Program, the institutional framework for policy implementation, the mission and the areas of intervention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the methodology for the formulation of the SDP, the current situation in the Policy Sector and the development strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Development Strategy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The main strategic choices of the SDP for the new period (2026-2030), are linked, on the one hand, to strengthening the extroversion of the Greek economy and promoting Greek products abroad and as a natural continuation of the SDP for the programming period 2021-2025, and, on the other hand, to the digital modernization of its operation and the upgrading of its infrastructure, both for the more effective execution of its mission, and for the implementation of the Government's Strategic Choices and the Strategic Planning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of a developmental nature.

Development objectives of the SDP

  • Strengthening and upgrading security in the buildings of the Central Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
  • Supporting the extroversion of Greek businesses and attracting investments;
  • Completing the project of the digital transformation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the digitization of its operations and services;
  • Covering the necessary operational needs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its supervised entities.

Technical Assistance Program

Technical Assistance (technical support) actions concern the programming, design, preparation, management, monitoring, evaluation, publicity, implementation and control of the NDP programs, as well as activities to strengthen the administrative capacity of the Management Service.
