On the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and under the organization and coordination of the Ministry, a medical evacuation operation of ten injured children from the Gaza Strip was successfully completed today.
The EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the World Health Organization and the Egyptian authorities were mobilised for their transport. Prior to their departure for Athens, the children received medical care at the Greek Hospital in Cairo.
The patients and their caregivers arrived in Greece with a special flight offered by AEGEAN.
The children will receive medical treatment in healthcare facilities of the country, while their caregivers will be accommodated in facilities of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum.
The operation was carried out with the concerted efforts of the Ministries of Health, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Migration and Asylum, as well as the Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (EKAV).
