A delegation from the Greek Embassy in Tel Aviv, headed by the Ambassador of Greece to Israel, visited today, Friday, October 3, the detention center, where the 27 Greek citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla are located, to provide every necessary assistance.

The Greek citizens are in good health. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Greece in Tel Aviv are working to ensure that the procedures for their swift and safe repatriation are completed as soon as possible.

Upon instructions from the Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, additionally to the oral demarches already made, a written protest was just submitted to the Ambassador of Israel to Greece regarding the unacceptable and inappropriate behavior of an Israeli Minister directed against Greek citizens participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, including a member of the Hellenic Parliament.

This demarche calls on the Israeli side to promptly complete the required procedures and to respect the rights of the citizens involved.

Human dignity is inviolable and fundamental and constitutes a primary obligation of every state.
