Bilateral Relations

Slovenia

There is mutual representation at the level of Embassies, which operate in Athens and Ljubljana. Greece and Slovenia established diplomatic relations in July 1992. Greece established an Embassy in Ljubljana in 1995. Some of the strong historical ties between Greece and Slovenia include the origin of the family of Ioannis Kapodistrias from the town of Koper (Capodistria) and Jason of the Argonauts, who is considered to have liberated the town of Ljubljana.

Bilateral Relations

Greece and Slovenia are partners in the EU and allies in NATO, which has further broadened the scope of bilateral cooperation between them, and they are jointly pursuing the European integration of the Balkans.
