Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Harry Theoharis, visited Cairo, heading a business delegation composed of twenty major Greek companies. The companies represented sectors including food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, information and communication technologies, construction, environmental services, energy, medical equipment, and defense. The mission was organized by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA), the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV), the Greek Exporters Association (SEVE), and Enterprise Greece, in cooperation with the Embassy of Greece and the Office of Economic and Commercial Affairs in Cairo, as well as with the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) on the Egyptian side.
The Deputy Minister opened the business and investment forum “Building Bridges for Shared Prosperity,” emphasizing the strategic nature of Greece–Egypt relations and the steady cooperation in the fields of economy, energy, defense, and culture. He stressed that Greece aims to further strengthen bilateral cooperation through innovative initiatives that leverage the comparative advantages of both countries.
On the sidelines of the forum, a large number of B2B meetings with Egyptian companies was held, highlighting significant collaboration opportunities. The Deputy Minister also held bilateral meetings with the Egyptian Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Mohamed El Gawsaky, the Deputy Executive President of GAFI, Yasser Abbas, as well as the Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt and to the League of Arab States, Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, discussing ways to enhance economic relations and business cooperation between the two countries.
