Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tasos Chatzivasileiou’s visit to Spain with business mission (25-27.05.2025)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Tasos Chatzivasileiou, paid a working visit to Spain from 25 to 27 May, 2025, leading a numerous delegation of Greek businesses and chambers of commerce and industry representatives.

On Monday, May 26, the Deputy Minister met with the Spanish State Secretary for Economy, Trade and Business, María Amparo López Senovilla. Their discussion focused on finding ways to strengthen trade and investment relations between the two countries.

Mr. Chatzivasileiou then addressed the Greece-Spain Business Forum. The Deputy Minister stressed that extroversion is a strategic choice made by our country and highlighted Greece's upgraded international image as a reliable business partner and attractive investment destination. Regarding relations with Spain, he noted that Spain is among Greece's leading trading partners and could contribute to the growth of Greek exports to Latin America.

The Business Forum was attended by numerous Greek and Spanish business representatives from various sectors, including energy, construction, transportation, food, health, services, retail, and information technology.

Mr. Chatzivasileiou also visited the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry and met with its President, Ángel Asensio. The discussion emphasized the potential for developing synergies between the two countries. Finally, the Deputy Foreign Minister addressed the Elcano Royal Institute for International and Strategic Studies, a leading strategic analysis think tank in Spain. His speech covered geopolitical developments in Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as the transformation of the Greek and European economies.
