Today, the Governments of the Hellenic Republic and the Republic of Costa Rica commemorate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This anniversary reflects a long-standing friendship grounded in shared values, such as respect for international law and commitment to peace, democracy, human rights, and sustainable development.
Over the past six decades, Greece and Costa Rica have developed constructive bilateral relations based on mutual respect and strengthened through cooperation in multilateral fora and mutual support within international organizations. The two countries continue to collaborate on addressing global challenges, including environmental protection, ocean governance, and disarmament, where Costa Rica's active diplomacy and Greece's longstanding international engagement have found common ground.
Cultural understanding and people-to-people ties also form a cornerstone of our relations. In this respect, both governments reaffirm their intention to promote their cooperation in areas such as youth, education, tourism, and innovation.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, Greece and Costa Rica look forward to deepening their ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation, in a spirit of friendship and mutual respect that has defined bilateral relations since 1965.
