As part of its cooperation with diplomatic academies of other countries, the Hellenic Diplomatic Academy (HDA), in collaboration with the Diplomatic Academy of Peru "Javier Pérez de Cuéllar" and the Embassy of Peru in Greece, organized an online lecture on Tuesday, 10 June, on the topic of maritime delimitation.
The keynote speaker was former Foreign Minister and current Permanent Representative of Peru to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Ambassador Mr. Gustavo Meza-Cuadra.
Mr. Meza-Cuadra, who has also served as Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru, participated as a special advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs on maritime zone issues in the team that represented his country in the case concerning maritime delimitation with Chile before the International Court of Justice.
His lecture to the 29th Promotion of Candidate Embassy Attachés of the HDA focused on this case study, which serves as a key example of peaceful resolution of disputes. Mr. Meza-Cuadra elaborated on its historical, legal, and diplomatic aspects, emphasizing on the decisive role of International Law and diplomacy.
In addition to the Director of the HDA, Ambassador Mr. Michael Diamessis, and the Director of Studies, Counselor Mr. Michail Angelopoulos, the lecture was also attended by the Ambassador of Peru to Greece, Mr. Arturo Arciniega, and the Ambassador of Greece to Peru, Ms. Eleni Lianidou. The Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru, Mr. Italo Acha, attended the lecture, online.
