The Hellenic Diplomatic Academy (HDA) participated, for the first time since its recent membership, in the Annual Meeting of the International Forum on Diplomatic Training (IFDT), which took place from 11 to 14 November 2025 in Peru, under the theme: “Navigating Change in a Complex World: Innovation in Diplomatic Training.”
The meeting was organised by the Diplomatic Academy of Peru “Javier Pérez de Cuéllar,” as current chair of the Forum, and was attended by more than 50 representatives from diplomatic academies, universities, and institutes of international relations from around the world. The official programme included two thematic panels: “What Do 21st-Century Diplomats Need to Know? Rethinking Diplomatic Education” and “Beyond the Classroom: The Expanding Role of Diplomatic Training Institutions,” as well as interactive workshops and roundtable discussions.
The HDA was represented by its Director, Ambassador Michael Diamessis, who participated in the proceedings of the meeting and also held bilateral and multilateral discussions with his counterparts from other diplomatic academies and educational institutions, with the aim to explore new forms of cooperation, exchange experiences and develop joint initiatives on issues of diplomatic training.
On the sidelines of the Meeting, the Director of the HDA and the Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Peru, Ambassador Silvia Alfaro, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, marking the beginning of close collaboration between the two Academies in the field of diplomatic education and training. The Memorandum provides, among other things, for the exchange of diplomats, expertise, and best practices, as well as the joint organisation of activities and seminars.
