Bilateral Relations

Following the signing of the Interim Accord, political relations between the two countries Following the signing of the Interim Accord, relations between the two countries developed in a satisfactory manner, with an emphasis on economic cooperation. After the entry into effect of the Prespa Agreement (12.02.2019), relations are developing steadily. On 02.04.2019, the first High Level Cooperation Council took place in Skopje, during which an Action Plan was signed. In it, a multitude of fields of common interest were determined, through which the deepening of bilateral cooperation is promoted. Greece steadily supports North Macedonia’s European course, on the basis of conditionality, the principle of equal performance of the candidates and respect of good neighbourly relations. Moreover, Greece provides technical know-how on matters related to the implementation of the European acquis. Numerous bilateral meetings have been held at the highest political level. Greece figures among the top foreign investors and trade partners of North Macedonia. Trade and economic relations are developing at a rapid pace, with emphasis on fields such as energy, infrastructure and transport among others.
