Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Tasos Chatzivasileiou to participate in the Informal Foreign Affairs Council on Trade issues (Warsaw, 3-4 February 2025)

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Openness, Tasos Chatzivasileiou, is travelling  to Warsaw today, Monday, 3 February 2025, to attend the informal Meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs/Trade Council (FAC/Trade).

On the initiative of the Polish Presidency, the Foreign Affairs/Trade Council is being held jointly with the Council of Ministers for Industry and the Internal Market for the first time this year. The ultimate goal is to harmonize trade and industry policies to enhance competitiveness.

Mr. Chatzivasileiou will attend a dinner this evening with the OECD Secretary-General, Mathias Cormann, and MEPs as guests.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Mr. Chatzivasileiou will participate in the Plenary on the cohesion of industrial and commercial policy to maintain and enhance European competitiveness.

On the margins of the Plenary, the Ministers are also expected to discuss other current Common Commercial Policy issues, such as transatlantic relations, the Mercosur agreement, progress in the EU’s negotiations with third countries, WTO reform efforts, and economic security.
