The strong earthquake that hit Japan has claimed an as yet unknown number of victims and caused extensive material damage, including to the country’s nuclear power plants.
Due to the situation, we still advise that travel to Japan be avoided.
Regarding Greek citizens residing in Japan, after conferring with airline companies, the Foreign Ministry has reserved airline tickets to facilitate any Greek citizens who wish to return to Greece but have been unable to make the necessary reservations.
