Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas and Alternate Foreign Minister Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou will be in Brussels on Monday, 21 March 2011, to participate in the proceedings of the EU General Affairs and Foreign Affairs Councils (GAC/FAC).
The FAC will look at the situation in Japan and the EU’s reaction, developments in the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood and in the Sahel region of Somalia, the human rights situation in Iran and, finally, the situations in Belarus and Bosnia-Herzegovina. During the working luncheon, there will be a discussion of the situation in Libya in the light of UN Security Council Resolution 1973.
The GAC agenda includes preparations for the 24-25 March European Council, which is expected to focus on economic governance issues and developments in the EU’s Southern Neighbourhood and in Japan.
