On the initiative of Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, a Quadrilateral Meeting is being held on 21 and 22 April, in Thessaloniki, between the Foreign and Interior Ministers of Greece, Albania, Bulgaria and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, with a focus on cross-border cooperation. The Alternate Minister for Citizen Protection, Nikos Toskas, will attend on behalf of the Hellenic Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction.
Also participating in the meeting will be officials from the European Commission and the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands, as the country currently holding the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Specifically, at 17:00 tomorrow, Thursday, 21 April, the first meeting of the Ministers will take place, with the key items for discussion being migration challenges and regional cooperation.
The agenda for the meetings to take place on Friday, 22 April, starting at 09:00, includes cooperation in the sectors of border management and combating networks trafficking in irregular migrants, as well as combating terrorism. The talks will also focus on the humanitarian dimension of migration and explore sectors of cooperation and better coordination for the management of the refugee and migration crisis.
A press conference will be held following the quadrilateral meeting, at about 12:00.
