We are here in the context of the 5th Strategic Dialogue between the United States and Greece.
We had the opportunity to confirm with the US Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken, the excellent level of our bilateral relations, the highest level ever reached in the two countries’ relationship.
The United States, through the Secretary of State, expressed gratitude towards Greece for its principled foreign policy, guided by respect for International Law, with a strong voice, and robust diplomatic capital that invests in peoples’ peace and prosperity.
We discussed the major regional issues, including Ukraine and the Middle East. There is significant momentum in the Middle East, so that cessation of hostilities is achieved, leading to a definitive solution to halt the humanitarian crisis currently affecting the Middle East.
Furthermore, I raised the Cyprus issue with Mr. Blinken, particularly in light of the assumption of duties by the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy. This presents an opportunity to bring the Cyprus issue back to the forefront and to finally be able to achieve a viable solution, within the framework of the United Nations Security Council resolutions.
