Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lana Zochiou, in response to a journalist's question regarding today’s statement by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye concerning Greece’s Maritime Spatial Planning (21.11.2025)

The update of Greece’s Maritime Spatial Planning map on the European Commission’s platform was executed in accordance with Directive 2014/89, the International Law of the Sea, and the bilateral agreements concluded by our country.

In areas where no bilateral delimitation of the Exclusive Economic Zone has been effected, the outer potential limits are depicted on the basis of the median line.

Greece’s positions on this matter have been repeatedly expressed, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union and the United Nations.

Türkiye’s objections lack any foundation in either EU or International Law.
