Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yiannis Loverdos’ visit to the USA (Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland, 12 - 18.06.2025)

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yiannis Loverdos, will travel to the United States of America from 12 to 18 June 2025 to visit Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.

During his stay in Chicago, Mr. Loverdos will meet with Metropolitan Nathaniel and visit the National Hellenic Museum, the Hellenic Research Center for Asia Minor and Pontus, as well as the Center for Hellenic Studies at the University of Chicago. On Saturday, June 14, he will address the Panhellenic Scholarship Foundation Scholarship Ceremony. The following day, he will attend the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of the Annunciation, participate in the Greek Festival of the Saint Demetrios community in Elmhurst and visit the Hellenic American Nursing Home.

On Monday, June 16, the Deputy Minister will travel to Detroit where he will meet with Metropolitan Nicholas, visit the Hellenic Museum of Michigan and present the Strategic Plan for Greeks Abroad 2024-2027 to representatives of the Greek-American community at the Saint Nicholas parish. Mr. Loverdos will also travel to the city of Ypsilanti, Michigan, to lay a wreath at the monument honoring Demetrios Ypsilantis.

The visit will conclude in Cleveland on Tuesday, June 17, where he will address and engage with the Greek-American community at an event held at the Greek Cultural Garden. Additionally, he will visit the Georgia Pappas Hellenic Cultural School and the Church of the Annunciation.

During the visit, Mr. Loverdos will hold a series of meetings with members of the Greek-American community, as well as with ecclesiastical, educational and cultural institutions.
