The International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) was established in 1998 as a Private Legal Entity, with an international character. In accordance with Article 14 of the Statutes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, the Centre is subject to its supervision.
The ICBSS aims to promote scientific cooperation within the framework of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation (BSEC), through implementing research programmes, preparing studies and producing publications, as well as organizing workshops, seminars and conferences on issues concerning the wider Black Sea region.
At the same time, the ICBSS is a BSEC Related Body, in accordance with the “new article 24” of its Charter, with the Organization’s Member States being represented on its Board of Directors.
