During his address at the “Delphi Roundtable: Development of productive investments in Greece” on Friday, 20 September, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kostas Fragogiannis, spoke on the political and economic momentum of the Greek Government to change the country's image and to promote an extroverted business culture.
“Investors choose a country where there is political stability, economic growth, social peace and cohesion - a country where the institutions function”, noted the Deputy Minister, summarising the role to be played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Economic Diplomacy in order to highlight this change taking place in Greece.
According to Mr Fragogiannis, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is already working in 3 directions that together make up what we call extroversion:
1. The consolidation of all agencies working on economic diplomacy under the ‘umbrella’ of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
2. The attraction of foreign investments to Greece through concerted, focused efforts in specific fields and countries.
3. The effort to support the internationalisation of Greek enterprises and to attract foreign investments in Greece, to be supported by what is call “Repositioning Greece”. This means a positive image for the present-day Greek proposal that supports and is supported by every aspect of public and private life, so that Greeks, investors, the business community and international public opinion at large have a positive perception of the country and its people, not just as a tourism destination but as a hub of business activity.
“In this context, 2021 will not only be the bicentennial of the Greek War of Independence, but also the year that Greece will become established in the mind of the international business community as a country for investments”, concluded by the Deputy Minister for Economic Diplomacy, Kostas Fragogiannis.
