Alternate FM Chountis to participate in a conference on Prostitution and Trafficking in Greece

Alternate Foreign Minister Nikos Chountis will address a conference on “Prostitution and Trafficking” being held at 10:00 on Wednesday, 29 April, at the Foreign Ministry’s Kranidiotis amphitheatre.

The conference is being held within the framework of the “Prostitution & Trafficking in Greece” project, with the Secretariat General for Gender Equality as the delegating agency and the Foreign Ministry’s Office of the National Rapporteur on Human Trafficking as the organizer.

The goal of the conference is to identify and point up the dimensions and factors that contribute to the development of the phenomenon of trafficking; the relationship between prostitution and human trafficking; and assessment of the adequacy and efficacy of policies, actions and the existing agencies involved; as well as to point up priorities and shape policy proposals for developing specific strategies.

Among the issues to be discussed are the action plan for human trafficking; the protocol for cooperation amongst agencies; the national reporting mechanism and international regulations; issues of prevention and of protection of victims; as well as basic points of crime-prevention policy, organized crime and migration.
