Alternate FM Chountis to participate in the EU Foreign Affairs and General Affairs Councils (Luxembourg, 20-21 April 2015)

Alternate Foreign Minister Nikos Chountis will participate on Monday, 20 April, in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC), in Luxembourg.

The FAC agenda includes issues of cooperation with the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), ahead of the 11 June 2015 EU-CELAC Summit Meeting in Brussels; developments in Libya and Yemen; and the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program.

Also within the framework of the FAC, the EU High Representative will present proposals from the review of European Security Strategy. Preparations will be continued for the Eastern Neighbourhood Summit, and Conclusions will be adopted regarding rule of law, human rights and freedom of the news media in FYROM.

On Tuesday, 21 April, Mr. Chountis will participate in the General Affairs Council (GAC), in Luxembourg, at which there will be a discussion of EU inter-institutional relations and the need to confront radicalization and safeguard the EU’s fundamental values within the framework of combating terrorism.
