Alternate FM Tsakalotos meets with Venezuelan Ambassador Farid Fernandez (Foreign Ministry, 31 March 2015)

Alternate Foreign Minister Euclid Tsakalotos receive the Venezuelan Ambassador to Greece, Farid Fernandez, at the Foreign Ministry today, Tuesday, 31 March.

During the meeting, which took place in a very friendly climate, Mr. Fernandez expressed his country’s interest in enhancing and strengthening its ties with Greece, proposing cooperation in sectors of mutual interest, including agriculture, shipping, and solar energy.

Mr. Fernandez also referred to the historic ties of friendship and shared values of the two peoples, conveying to Mr. Tsakalotos the positive sentiment created in the Venezuelan people by the victory of the Left in Greece, and expressing his conviction that the new Greek government will be a force for change on the European political and economic landscape.

Mr. Tsakalotos expressed his gratitude for the Venezuelan government’s interest in Greece, noting that the feelings of friendship are mutual and strong.

Finally, Mr. Tsakalotos briefed Mr. Fernandez on the economic and social priorities of the Greek government that will lead the country out of the vicious cycle of austerity and into a just cycle of growth.
