Alternate FM Xydakis meets with Slovak Ambassador Peter Michalko (Foreign Ministry, 7 July 2016)

The Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Nikos Xydakis, met at the Foreign Ministry today with the Slovak Ambassador to Athens, Peter Michalko.

During the meeting, which took place in a friendly atmosphere, Ambassador Michalko set out the priorities of the Slovak Presidency in the second half of 2016. Reference was made to issues to be discussed at the Informal Meeting of the General Affairs Council, which is to take place on 24 and 25 July, in Bratislava.

In the conversation that followed, emphasis was put on current issues, including the refugee issue, the economic crisis and the future of the European Union, through the prism of the new state of affairs arising from the result of the UK referendum.
