The Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Nikos Xydakis, met at the Foreign Ministry today with Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Commissioner Christos Stylianides.
During the meeting, which took place in a very friendly atmosphere, particular emphasis was put on issues of European Civil Protection and the response of EU member states to the current increased needs. The discussion also focused on the unprecedented refugee and migration flows reaching Europe and the need to manage them effectively.
Reference was also made to the proposal presented last week by the European Commission for the creation of a European Border/Coast Guard.
