The Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Nikos Xydakis, met at the Foreign Ministry today with the German and Lithuanian Ambassadors to Greece, Dr. Peter Schoof and Alfonsas Eidintas, respectively.
During the meeting with German Ambassador Dr. Peter Schoof, the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries, both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU, was reaffirmed, following German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s recent visit to Athens. The discussion touched on issues of European interest, including the Greek programme and the Greek-German partnership, and particular emphasis was put on the migration and refugee issue.
Among the topics discussed during the meeting with Lithuanian Ambassador Alfonsas Eidintas were bilateral relations and the need to establish, within 2016, a direct air link between the capitals of Greece and Lithuania. The refugee and migration crisis was also discussed, with a focus on the development of the relocation system.
Both meetings took place in a very friendly atmosphere.
