Alternate FM Xydakis meets with the Slovak Ambassador to Athens, Peter Michalko (Athens, 30 October 2015)

The Alternate Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Nikos Xydakis, met at the Foreign Ministry today with the Slovak Ambassador to Athens, Peter Michalko, with whom he discussed issues of common and European interest.

The meeting was held in a very friendly climate. Issues discussed included bilateral relations, with emphasis on tightening the ties between the two countries ahead of Slovakia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2016. Social policy issues were also discussed, with a focus on jobs and youth, European economic governance, and common European energy networks.

Finally, there was a discussion of the potential for cooperation between the two countries in the sectors of education and culture.
