Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis attends Remembrance Day event for Greek Jewish Victims and Heroes of the Holocaust (27 January 2021)

Miltiadis Varvitsiotis on Holocaust Remembrance Day: Never again!

Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis today represented the government and the Prime Minister at the Remembrance Day event for Greek Jewish Victims and Heroes of the Holocaust, with Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, laying a wreath at the Holocaust Monument.

Isaak Mizan, one of the last survivors of the Holocaust, was also in attendance.

On the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Mr. Varvitsiotis uploaded the following post on Facebook:

“Isaak Mizan, arm number 182641, Auschwitz

One of the last survivors of the Holocaust, moves us with his presence, reminding us that Nazi barbarity is not just a story, but a living memory.
Honouring the memory of the millions of Jewish victims of the Holocaust, including some 60,000 Greek victims, we must keep their memory alive and serve the imperative ‘Never Again!’

This year, Greece holds the presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) and must continue the fight against anti-Semitism.”
