During the Ambassadors Conference on the priorities of Greek Foreign Policy, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, sent a message of national unity in the face of increased Turkish provocations.
More specifically, Mr Varvitsiotis welcomed the common stance of the political parties expressed in Parliament during the Budget debate. “We know this is a difficult time that requires restraint, continuous activity and, above all, strong national spirit”, stated the Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs.
As regards the migration issue, Mr Varvitsiotis stressed the need for solidarity among the European partners, calling upon them not to approach the problem from a perspective of fear and pointing to the need to share the burden and responsibilities. He also highlighted Greece's path to growth and its use of European programmes and international synergies in this direction.
Finally, Mr Varvitsiotis praised the action of the Diplomatic Service and Greek diplomats. “Thanks to Greek diplomacy, we now boast a considerable range of relations, contacts, participations, effectiveness and promotion of our national views”, he added.
