"We will not indulge Mr. Erdogan. The Greeks will decide in all sovereignty who they want to govern them and I believe that they will vote again for Kyriakos Mitsotakis as Prime Minister", Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis said, in an interview today with SKAI TV and journalist Giorgos Aftias. "We will not give in to any of Türkiye’s irrational and illegal claims; we will continue to denounce and internationalize Türkiye's unlawful conduct and try to put Türkiye on the path of respecting International Law", the Alternate Minister added, stressing that the government is shielding the country for the next decade with its armament program.
Pointing to the difficulties caused by global inflation, the international energy crisis and the food crisis due to the war in Ukraine, the Alternate Minister noted that we are facing a difficult winter and it is of great importance who will lead Greece through these challenges. He emphasized the importance of domestic stability and a strong voice abroad, citing both the de-escalation of electricity bills through government interventions and the successful negotiation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility from which Greece will benefit with 72 billion euros to create conditions for growth throughout the country.
Mr. Varvitsiotis underscored that "we will get through this difficult juncture once again", noting that the government has succeeded in ensuring that "Greece has a strong voice in Europe and strategic international alliances, while strengthening the country's defence and deterrent power".
