The message that “Greece acknowledges honours and respects the contribution of the Diaspora Greeks to its progress and prosperity” was sent by Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis from Washington today, during his meeting with the President of the American Hellenic Institute (AHI), Nick Larigakis.
In particular, Mr. Varvitsiotis was briefed about the issues that concern Diaspora Greeks in the USA and praised the contribution of the members of the Greek-American community in highlighting national issues, strengthening Greek-US relations and promoting Greek interests, as well as in celebrating Greek culture and preserving Greek values.
Finally, he pointed out that the Mitsotakis government stands firmly by the side of Diaspora Greeks and seeks their more active involvement in Greek affairs, as evidenced by the legislation it introduced for the expatriates’ voting rights.
