Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis’ meeting with the Board of Directors of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) focused on the prospects for Greek tourism at a time of great challenges as well as great opportunities.
The meeting, which took place at the SETE offices, at the invitation of the President of the BoD, Yiannis Retsos, discussed about all the current issues being faced by the tourism sector, including the post-Brexit era, NSRF Programmes for tourism in the context of the new European budget, the new corona virus epidemic and its consequences on the arrival of tourists from China, as well as how migration is impacting tourism on the Northeast Aegean islands.
Mr. Varvitsiotis said it is a priority of the Greek government to support the tourism sector, which functions as a barometer for foreign policy and the economy.
The Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs also briefed SETE on foreign investors’ great interest in Greece, following the Prime Minister’s recent trips abroad.
