Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, representing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, attended today the Memorial Service held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens for the 353,000 victims of the Genocide of the Greeks of Pontus.
Immediately afterwards, Mr. Varvitsiotis represented the government at the wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
In a post of his, the Alternate Minister pointed out, among other things, that "it is our duty to keep the memory alive. The preservation of memory, as an unquenched flame, becomes the strength to continue the fight for the international recognition of the Genocide. We honour - We claim - We do not forget!"
