Conference at the Foreign Ministry, under Secretary General for Int’l Economic Relations Mihalos, with the participation of representatives of Ministries and export association representatives, regarding Greek exports to Russia

A conference was held at the Foreign Ministry today, Thursday, 7 August, under Secretary General for International Economic Relations Panagiotis Mihalos, with the participation of the Rural Development & Food Ministry’s Secretary General for Agricultural Policy & International Relations, D. Melas, representatives of export and sectoral agencies (SEV, FING, SEVE, UHC-ACCI, TCCI, INCOFRUIT HELLAS, FGM, CRI, SEG, OFAE, ECIO), and high-level officials.

The subject of the conference was the latest developments regarding the possible impact on Greek fruit and vegetable exports to Russia, in light of the Russian Federation’s reaction to the recent imposition of sanctions by the EU.

Mr. Mihalos briefed the attendees on the initiatives and actions being taken by the Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the co-competent Ministries and agencies, to ensure Greek products’ unhindered access to the Russian market.

Among other things, it was decided that a Working Group – with the participation of high-level officials and sectoral, export agency representatives – will be set up to oversee the export of Greek products to Russia, manage issues that arise, and coordinate relevant actions. It was also agreed that the Working Group will look at the prospects for expanding the market for Greece’s fruit and vegetable products, submitting its proposals at the soonest possible time.
