Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Fragogiannis hosted a farewell luncheon today in honour of the Saudi Ambassador, Essam Bin Ebrahim Bait Almal, who is leaving Greece in order to take up a new post. The luncheon was also attended by the Ambassadors of Iraq, Kuwait and Tunisia, as well as officials of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the luncheon, the Deputy Minister praised the Saudi Ambassador’s essential contribution to further strengthening and enhancing the already exceptional relations between the two countries, a fact sealed by the recent and highly successful official visit of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Riyadh in early February.
Moreover, Mr Fragogiannis briefed his guests on the latest developments concerning Turkish provocations in the region and, specifically, against Greece, and thanked Saudi Arabia for its consistent understanding and support for Greek positions in favour of respect for International Law and international legality, as well as in favour of peace and stability in the wider Southeastern Mediterranean region.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs had a courtesy meeting with the new Italian Ambassador to Greece, Patricia Falcinelli, during which they discussed ways to further promote bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, including the use of digital media, given the restrictions caused by the pandemic.
Mr Fragogiannis also had the opportunity to brief the Italian Ambassador on current developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Turkey's increasing provocations.
