Creation of a new special section on gov.gr for Greeks abroad - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Kotsiras meets with Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Konstantinos Kyranakis (Athens, 3.8.2023)

Following cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Digital Governance, a special rubric was added to gov.gr regarding services for Greeks abroad.

Specifically, a new rubric titled "Greeks abroad" has been added to the home page of www.gov.gr, which includes the services most frequently used by Greeks residing permanently or temporarily abroad, as well as the option of an online appointment with the responsible Consulate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via video conference. Under the new rubric "Greeks Abroad", which can be accessed both through the "Greeks Abroad" category and the "Citizens and day-to-day life" category, Greeks residing abroad can find a number of additional services most frequently used by them.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Kotsiras, stated inter alia:

“A few days following the adoption of the draft legislation on the lifting of voting restrictions for Greeks abroad, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Digital Governance launch an additional initiative for the Greek Diaspora.

More precisely, following a fruitful and constructive cooperation between the two Ministries, a special section has been added to gov.gr in order to facilitate Greek citizens living abroad in their daily lives, while policies to enhance their relationship with their homeland will be maintained."

Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis, stated:

"The addition and operation of the new section for Greeks Abroad, apart from being a practical issue, is a priority of high symbolism for us, reflecting the active role and strong ties that we want Greeks residing abroad to have with their homeland. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demonstrates that it brings out digitisation and equal access to public services for Greeks residing abroad as a central pillar of its policies".
