A meeting between Alternate Finance Minister George Chouliarakis and Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis, which took place at the Finance Ministry on Wednesday, 9 December 2015, with ministry officials in attendance, considered problems that have arisen at the Foreign Ministry’s Translation Service.
At the meeting, it was decided a) to overturn the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMD no. 093.7/AS5950, GG 1986/14.9.2015) and the relevant Ministerial Decision (MD no. 2/73325/0026, GG 2502/19.11.2015) and b) to return to the previous system for paying private translators.
The Foreign Ministry will examine the overall functioning of the Translation Service and, in the immediate future, recommend legislative adjustments for restructuring the Service in order to optimize the degree to which it meets the current needs of citizens and the Service’s personnel.
