Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis made the following statement upon assuming his duties:
“The renewal of the Prime Minister’s trust, so that I might continue my term at the Foreign Ministry, points to the major significance of – as well as his own personal sensitivity and the government’s sensitivity to – the issues of the Hellenic Diaspora.
I believe that the mobilization of the forces of Diaspora Hellenism and the active participation of global Hellenism in the country’s economic and social life will help us to exit the crisis more quickly. The stable economic and political environment that now exists in our country, in combination with the programmatic reforms, will enable us to attract investments.
We are working towards legislative interventions regarding the operation, upgrading and strengthening of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad, as well as resolution of the problems being faced by Hellenes abroad.
At the same time, we are strengthening cultural and religious diplomacy, which will even further strengthen our homeland’s position internationally, thus reaping multiple benefits.
Pursuing broader political consultation and working together with all of the political leadership, and with Foreign Minister Kotzias in particular, as well as with the support of the Ministry services, I am certain that we will have the optimum results in the above directions.”
