Deputy FM Gerontopoulos inaugurates the new offices of the Greek-Romanian Chamber of Commerce

Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos inaugurated the new building housing the new offices of the Greek-Romanian Chamber of Commerce on the evening of Tuesday, 21 October, within the framework of his two-day visit to Romania.

Mr. Gerontopoulos was welcomed by the President of the Chamber, Michalis Sotiriou, who thanked him for being in Bucharest for the inauguration of the new “home” of the Greek-Romanian Chamber. Addressing the Greek entrepreneurs active in Romania, Mr. Gerontopoulos stated that “I am very, very pleased to be among our successful compatriot entrepreneurs, so that, together, we can inaugurate the new building and office that will house your Chamber. I congratulate you on what you have already achieved in the Romanian market, as well as on your more general contribution to Greece’s struggle to overcome the economic crisis. And I also congratulate you on the particular importance you attach to – as well as your economic support for – the Greek school and the Chair of Hellenic Studies at the University of Bucharest.

The Greek investment and entrepreneurial presence in Romania is already the main characteristic of the economic and commercial relations between the two countries. Moreover, Greek-interest enterprises in Romania, with the position they already hold in the Romanian market, contribute actively and catalytically to further increasing Greek exports and maintaining our trade surplus with Romania. Continue your successful  presence here, but know that the investment climate in the homeland is positive. So invest in Greece as well.”

Following his address, Mr. Gerontopoulos had an in-depth discussion with the Greek entrepreneurs present, responding to questions concerning economic, business, political and Hellenism-abroad issues.
