Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos met today, Monday, 5 May, with Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Ze’ev Elkin.
During their talks, the two Foreign Ministers noted the expansion of bilateral cooperation and the significant improvement in bilateral political and economic relations between Greece and Israel in recent years, as well as the closer relations between the two countries’ diasporas.
Mr. Elkin noted that Greece can play an important role as a bridge between Israel and the European Union, and referred to the course of the Middle East peace process.
Mr. Gerontopoulos briefed his counterpart on Greece’s stance in support of the efforts toward the continuation of the negotiations, reiterating the EU’s support for the initiatives for the resolution of the Middle East problem
