Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos met today, Wednesday, 7 May, with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Anne Brasseur.
During their meeting, Mr. Gerontopoulos remarked on the important role the Council of Europe plays in issues concerning human rights, defence and promotion of democratic institutions, and protection of minorities.
Ms. Brasseur noted the active and substantial participation of Greek parliamentary representatives in the Council of Europe, and Mr. Gerontopoulos referred to the Greek government’s efforts to overcome the economic crisis, as well as to the positive results already becoming apparent.
