Within the framework of the visit he is carrying out to London, Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos met yesterday, 8 May, with Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira and Great Britain.
During the meeting, Mr. Gerontopoulos was briefed by His Eminence on the work and activities of the Archdiocese, and particularly the operation throughout Great Britain of 120 churches and many schools, which contribute greatly to the teaching of the Greek language.
Mr. Gerontopoulos also visited the Hellenic Centre, where he talked extensively with members of the Greek community, representatives of London associations and organizations. Hearing the problems the Greek community is facing, their requests, and their proposals, Mr. Gerontopoulos provided responses on issues within his competency, thanking his collocutors for their successful presence in Great Britain; a presence that helps significantly towards improving Greece’s image.
