Deputy FM Gerontopoulos visits Munich and Nuremberg (13-14 July 2013)

Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos carried out a visit to Germany on 13 and 14 July. During his visit he met with Greek community organizations, participated in events marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Metropolis of Germany, and attended the Greek-Bavarian friendship events hosted by the City of Munich.

Mr. Gerontopoulos met on Saturday morning, in Nuremberg, with Greek community organizations of the area, meeting later in the day with representatives of the Greek communities of Munich. He was briefed on matters concerning the communities and heard their concerns and questions.

Mr. Gerontopoulos then attended the Holy Mass at All Saints Church, with Metropolitan Augustine of German officiating, and he visited the All Saints Cultural Center, where he talked with members of the Greek community.

On Sunday afternoon, Mr. Gerontopoulos attended the events celebrating Greek-Bavarian friendship at Munich’s central square, delivering an address in the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Augustine, Munich Mayor Christian Ude and Bavarian Minister of Education Ludwig Spaenle, referring, among other things, to the matter of the construction of the Greek school in Munich.
