Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas met at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, 3 September 2014, with the Indian Ambassador to Athens, Tsewang Topden. During the meeting the excellent relations between the two countries were reaffirmed.
Mr. Kourkoulas underscored Greece’s will to develop Greek-Indian economic relations in sectors such as trade, shipping, tourism, energy and renewable energy sources, information technology, pharmaceuticals, and construction. Ambassador Topden confirmed the potential to expand economic relations, pointing to India’s firm support during Greece’s economic crisis.
Specific measures were decided upon to encourage economic cooperation between the two countries, with Mr. Kourkoulas putting special emphasis on the need to facilitate Greek exports of fresh fruits that satisfy the necessary fresh produce safety standards.
