Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will be in Brussels tomorrow, Wednesday, 16 July 2014, to participate in the Ministerial Donors Conference being hosted by the European Commission, in Brussels, in support of Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia, in the wake of the catastrophic floods of May 2014.

The aim of the conference is to raise donor awareness regarding the region’s recovery, and it will also look at improving member-state cooperation on issues of dealing with natural disasters in the region.

Greece provided humanitarian assistance to the flood victims, including €100,000 to Bosnia-Herzegovina and €200,000 to Serbia. On the initiative of Greek agencies, 300 tons of humanitarian assistance materials (food, clothing, pharmaceuticals) were collected in voluntary citizen donations, while the Stavros Niarchos Foundation provided €300,000 to be used by the international organizations Oxfam, Red Cross, and the Mozaik Foundation.
