Deputy FM Mardas participates in the 7th annual Energy and Economic Summit (Istanbul, 19 November 2015)

Within the framework of his participation in the 7th annual Energy and Economic Summit, hosted yesterday in Istanbul by the “Atlantic Council” think-tank, the Deputy Foreign Minister for International Economic Relations, Dimitris Mardas, attended the informal meeting on “The changing Geopolitics of Energy Security,” which was also participated in by ministers and representatives of the governments of many countries.

In his intervention, Mr. Mardas referred to the outlook for the international oil market, emphasizing the current low prices and highlighting their impact on a regional, economic and political level. He also proposed to the organizers’ of the conference that it would be advisable to undertake a study of the repercussions of the new state of affairs taking shape in the oil market, because there is an imperative need to set down and analyze the current situation on an international level. In fact, he expressed the Greek side’s willingness  to participate – to the extent feasible – in the carrying out of this study, as the hydrocarbon market is among our country’s interest.
