Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis addressed the 10th General Assembly of the World Hellenic Inter-Parliamentary Association (WHIA) on Tuesday, 21 July 2015. Mr. Amanatidis praised the work of the WHIA, stressing that in the most difficult post-war state of affairs for Greece, the Greeks of the Diaspora, and politicians in particular, are an important factor that can fight for Greece.
Mr. Amanatidis also argued for the need to create an international organization of Greek politicians from all countries, as well as secretariats with targeted actions, so as to optimize coordination between the members of the Greek and Cypriot parliaments.
Finally, he referred to initiatives that will promote issues of Greek education and culture abroad, stressing that “first we must show, as Greeks, that we have confidence in our country.”
