Within the framework of the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Deputy Foreign Minister Kyriakos Gerontopoulos will be in Kenya on Thursday and Friday, 19 and 20 June, to co-chair the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries-European Union Ministerial Meeting, representing EU High Representative Catherine Ashton.
The ACP side will be represented at the Ministerial by over 20 Ministers, while, in addition to Deputy Foreign Minister Gerontopoulos, the EU will be represented by Development Commissioner Andris Piebalgs and high-ranking personnel from the European External Action Service (EEAS) personnel and the Development Cooperation Directorate (DEVCO).
On Friday, 20 June, on the margins of the Ministerial, Mr. Gerontopoulos will participate in a roundtable co-hosted by the European Investment Bank and the European Commission, at which he will present the Greek and European experience on issues of Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change.
Finally, during his stay in Nairobi, Mr. Gerontopoulos will visit the Archbishop Makarios III Orthodox Patriarchal School and meet with Most Reverend Metropolitan Makarios of Kenya, as well as with members of the local Greek community.
