In the context of the celebrations of Oxi Day on 28 October, official Remembrance Ceremonies will be conducted in honour of the Greek Soldiers who fell during the Greco-Italian war (1940-1941) on Wednesday, 28 October 2020, at 10:00 am at the Military Cemetery of Këlcyrë, and at 12:45 at the Bularat War Cemetery.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Diaspora Greeks, Mr Konstantinos Vlasis, will address the audience at the ceremony to be held in Këlcyrë and will give a speech at the Bularat War Cemetery.
The Ambassador of Greece to Albania, Mrs Sophia Philippidou, will attend the events.
The Ceremonies are being held in cooperation with the Albanian side, as envisaged in the bilateral Inter-State Cooperation Agreement between Greece and Albania on ‘seeking, disinterring, identifying and burying the Greek soldiers who fell in military operations in Albania during the Greco-Italian War in 1940-1941 and construction of cemeteries on Albanian territory for their interment’.
